LAS VEIGAS CHAPEL

It is one of the most outstanding chapels in Cangas del Narcea.
At the end of the 18th century, the parishioners of Besullo requested permission from the bishopric of Oviedo to begin its reconstruction and demolish the old one because it was affected by a stream that flooded it.
āThe altarpiece (circa 1750) is an imitation of the Passion altarpiece of the parish of Cangas del Narcea and is related to the sculptor Juan García.

This chapel is the setting for the main festival of the town of Besullo, Our Lady of Las Veigas, which is celebrated every 15th of August. Pilgrimage, procession, mass and prao meal with traditional dances are the main components of this festival which, at dusk, moves to the town, where the dancing continues until dawn.
AT THE END OF THE VISIT, ON THE WAY BACK TO THE VILLAGE FROM EL MAZO, THE CHAPEL IS LESS THAN 100 METERS AWAY, SO IT MAY BE A GOOD TIME TO GO AND ADMIRE THE BEAUTY OF ITS SHAPES AND THE BEAUTIFUL ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH IT IS LOCATED.
